BIOINFORMATICS COURSE APPLIED TO VECTOR DEGOMICS
The course aims to teach students the basic tools to identify and annotate genes of interest in genomes and transcriptomes of arthropod vectors.
Introduction to genomics (sequencing and assembly of genomes and transcriptomes); Introduction to databases;
Homology searches and interpretation of BLAST results;
Use of BLAST with command lines;
Basic programming for the analysis of BLAST results;
Use of Appolo and Artemis for gene annotation; Analysis of coding sequences (introns, exons, domains, signal peptide, etc.);
Construction of heat maps from transcriptome data.
Dates: 16th to 19th of November.
32-hours intensive course with theoretical and practical coursework.
